Praise Him

Sometimes, the Lord just desires your praises….
I struggled all week to receive a word from God for our blog, and then it came to me: acknowledge His mighty works and praise Him! Praise Him for everything He has done for you; praise Him for every promise He has given you; praise Him for His power and might. This should be easy – He is omnipotent and has done so much for us; yet, it is probably the most neglected part of our walk with God.
Search your memory. Remind yourself of the times when you didn’t know Jesus was there, but He kept you anyways. He protected you and provided for you when you didn’t even know He existed. I reflect back on my own life and it brings me to tears to think about how blind I was. Jesus was there the whole time, leading and guiding me; I just couldn’t see Him. He is there in the midst of everything. Zephaniah 3:17 says, “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.” Praise Him for it!
At altar call a few Sundays ago, the Lord spoke to me and said “I AM your peace.” Such power! He is our peace, and He promises to cover us (as shoes of peace) in every ordained step we take. Ephesians 2:14, “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us.” We don’t deserve it. Praise Him for it!
Insane, right?! The Lord of Lords, Kings of Kings, and Creator of the Heavens whispers encouragement in our ears; He comforts us and desires to be in our presence, and doesn’t even have to come off His throne to do so. “For he spake, and it was done; he commanded, and it stood fast.” (Psalms 33:9) His greatness cannot be measured. Praise Him for it!
We teach our children to pray and study the word daily, but do we teach them to praise and acknowledge the greatness of God often enough. His praise should always be on our lips, regardless of the obstacles in our daily lives. Our children watch us and mimic our actions, sometimes more than our words, so it’s important that they both line up. Psalms 145:4 tells us “one generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts.” Because of generations before us, we know and sing His praises; let’s make it our purpose to declare the greatness of God (in action and word) to our children. Their battle against principalities and spiritual wickedness will be greater than any other generation; they need to be well-equipped in every weapon God gives us.
Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. Isaiah 25:1
